Nervous System Regulation + Meditation Therapy

Emotions and thought patterns govern our living experience and can contribute to imbalances in our mental and physical wellbeing. Meditation as a therapy, including visual imagery, breathing, mindfulness and intentional movement is able to help us re-establish balance, find peace of mind and promote health and happiness.

FAQs

What if i have never meditated before?

That is perfectly okay. These sessions are for complete beginners or seasoned professionals. My take on meditation is centred around creating tools and a personalised practice that works best for you, with an array of resources you can draw on whether it be a 20 minute more traditional style mediation each day or shorter 1 minute moments throughout your day.

This is tailored to you and works with your grain not against it.

What type of meditation is best for anxiety?

Believe it or not, but the more traditional styles of meditation can make anxiety worse. That’s because trying to sit still with a racing mind is only going to cause it to race more causing more anxiety and panic. The very opposite of what we want.

So, it is about finding ways to calm you mind and body together and this can look different for someone experiencing anxiety. I have found a great place to start is to do something, so drawing, journalling, knitting, re-building a car engine, lego. This coupled with intentional breathing and we see really great outcomes.

Once more, this is tailored to each individual and their circumstances.

Isn’t a meditation practice strict?

There are methods that adopt this approach. But after studying meditation in depth I can assure you this is just ONE approach. And it is my belief that there is as many ways to meditate as there are people. I am by no means saying that there are right or wrong ways to do this, quite the opposite.

If you prefer a regimented approach then we will go in the that direction. If however, you need flexibility and a more fluid approach, then this is where will end up.

This entire process is about what works for you, you are your own guru! ;)

I have tried meditation before and i struggle to be still, can i still do this?

Yes, so very much yes. You have simply found ways that don’t work and thats great because know we can rule them out and are closer to finding what does work for you. Maybe it’s through movement such as walking or running or surfing. Or maybe it is a dedicated mindfulness practice while you cook.

Can i claim sessions back on medicare or private health?

Unfortunately at this time i am unable to offer the medicare rebate or private health insurance. I am hoping that legislation changes and i am able to offer this in the future.

I do offer payment plans.
