Nervous System First.

Build the capacity to live, lead and love without bracing, collapsing or shutting down.

A six‑month, high‑touch program with live somatic practice, thought work and meaning‑making, community co‑regulation, and 1:1 support.

You’ve tried to understand it.

You’ve tried to push through it.

Now let’s work with the system underneath it.

Founding round opens May 2026. Places are limited.

Applications open.

You don’t need more awareness.
And you don’t need to try harder.

You need a nervous system that can hold the life you want.

Regulate your nervous system and come home to yourself with nervous system first therapist + somatic practitioner Jo Kendall.

Is This Right For Me?

This space is for you if:

— You swing between feeling too much and not enough

— The same patterns keep repeating no matter what you try

— You override yourself automatically, before you've even noticed

— You carry more than most people realise, and more than you give yourself credit for

— Rest doesn't restore you, even time off feels tense or unfinished

— You've tried mindset work, boundaries, therapy, self-reflection and something still isn't shifting

— You're tired of understanding your patterns without being able to shift them

— You're tired of coping your way through your own life

If you’re nodding, you’re in the right place.

And you don’t have to keep doing this alone.

Why Nervous System First?

If this was a discipline issue, you would’ve fixed it by now.

If it was mindset, the books and traditional approaches would’ve worked.

Your nervous system adapted, intelligently, perfectly - to what your life asked of it.

And now that adaptation runs automatically underneath everything.

Trying to change without updating the system underneath is like running the newest software on an outdated device.

It won’t work, not because you’re doing it wrong, but because the system underneath hasn’t caught up yet.

Insight alone doesn’t interrupt survival.

Capacity does.

And that’s exactly what this program builds.

Not by forcing change.

Not by digging everything up at once.

But by steadily and gently building your nervous system’s capacity to feel settled, to feel safe,

to choose differently, and to hold more of the life you actually want.

Without bracing.

Without collapsing.

Without shutting down, without freezing.

Without people pleasing.

Without losing yourself in the process.

This is the missing piece.

In the first 30–90 days, most people notice

— Catching the pattern before it takes over

— Feeling steadier in the body instead of constantly on edge

— Ending automatic over-functioning

— Experiencing real settling, not just distraction

— Beginning to say NO and YES, and meaning it

— Seeing proof that this isn't "just who you are"

Not reinvention. Trajectory change.

What makes this different and why it works

I have the deepest respect for therapy, coaching and somatic work.

Each field has profoundly shaped me, and each one has something genuinely powerful to offer.

But in two decades of sitting with people, I kept noticing the same gaps.

Talk therapy honours your story beautifully,

and the insight and understanding it offers is real and valuable.

But insight alone uses a different part of our brain to where the pattern actually lives.

Which means you can understand something completely, have full awareness of why it happens, and still find yourself repeating it.

Talk therapy also spends a lot of time in the past, which makes complete sense, because the past shaped everything.

But our nervous system and body doesn't always know the difference between then and now.

We can feel the full emotional weight of a past event as though it's happening right now, and revisiting it repeatedly can inadvertently strengthen that response rather than release it.

This is not a criticism of therapy. It is one of the most profound and important fields there is.

It's simply where I felt a gap when working with my clients.

Coaching opens up the future in a way that can feel genuinely exciting and expansive, and that has enormous value.

It invites you to think bigger, challenge your thoughts, and stop letting your past hold you back.

But moving forward without fully meeting what's underneath can feel short-sighted. It can miss the deep meaning-making and insight that makes change stick.

And when we vision forward in a way that moves too fast for our nervous system, we snap back.

Which then reinforces exactly the thinking patterns we were trying to move beyond. Not good enough. Can't do it. Something is wrong with me.

Again, not a failure of coaching. A gap between what it's designed to do and what the nervous system needs.

Somatic work creates real regulation and genuine relief, and it is extraordinary.

But without involving the mind, it can leave people without the cognitive understanding that allows the work to ripple into all areas of life.

Or worse, a flood of feelings and emotions that arise seemingly out of nowhere, with no support in how to move through them or make meaning or understanding of what's happening.

None of these are failures.

They are each doing exactly what they were designed to do,

and I wholeheartedly know the value and power of each.

What I kept searching for,

and eventually built,

was the bridge between them.

I took all three lanes and merged into one -

Nervous System First.

I am a qualified therapist, award-winning coach, and somatic practitioner.

And what I've created over two decades isn't simply a combination of those things.

It's a methodology shaped by an ongoing commitment to find what actually works, and to keep evolving it.

My measure of success,

has and will always be the person in front of me.

I care so deeply about my clients, about you.

Your story matters here.

We honour it, sit with it, and pay attention to it - because it holds so much of the pattern.

And then, we love it forward.

Through the nervous system. Through the body.

Through building the real capacity to live differently, not just understand why you haven't been.

This isn't regulation without meaning.

This isn't insight without embodiment.

This isn't forward momentum without solid ground beneath you.

This is what becomes possible when it all comes together.

And that's what Nervous System First is built upon.

  • Donna. K

It is such a joy working with Jo. She radiates warmth, kindness and compassion.

Since working with Jo, I have gained such confidence, learnt how to set boundaries, and how to better take care of me. She saw the road ahead when I couldn’t.

    I cannot thank Jo enough.

So, if you are unsure of your next steps, just need someone to talk to or feel completely overwhelmed like I did then please reach out to Jo. She is amazing.

We really all need a Jo in our life.

  • Tiana. B

I have worked with Jo for around 2 years now for all kinds of life and business things, and I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Her calm, easy and fun approach made me feel comfortable right from the start. Her ability to connect with people so easily is one of her many beautiful qualities, which makes her the incredible therapist she is.

Jo has genuinely helped me to manage my stress and anxiety and has always made me feel supported and understood. Working with Jo has been key to my happiness, peace and mental wellbeing and also was the support I needed to step into starting my own business and create the life I had been dreaming about.

  • Michelle. H

I came to Jo when I was struggling with high functioning anxiety and honestly had reached a point where making even the smallest decisions was hard. I felt frozen.

I worked with Jo over a period of 3 months and in that time my confidence grew and I gained clarity on what I most want for my career, relationships and my life.

I developed new ways to approach decision making and also ways to keep myself calm, healthy and happy.

I am feeling calmer and clearer and excited for my path forward.

Jo came into my life when I was feeling so anxious and all that anxiety lifted through our sessions together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions I am often asked.

Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime, I'd love to hear from you.

  • Not at all. Most people who come to Nervous System First are exhausted from the effort it takes to stay okay,  and the cost that comes with that. Others arrive at their breaking point, feeling like they simply can't keep going the way they have been and sometimes it is because they need support through very real life challenges and transitions.

It is all welcome here. Always.

The beauty of this work is that it truly meets and holds you exactly where you are.

It doesn't ask you to be in a certain kind of place to begin. It works with you as a whole person, from the ground up, so wherever you're starting from, you're starting in the right place.

  • Because this works at a different level, and brings it all together into one complete path.

Most approaches work with just one part of you. Your thoughts. Your behaviours. Your story. Or they go the other way and work only with the body, leaving the meaning-making, insight and understanding behind.

    This work bridges both.

We start with the nervous system, because until your nervous system has enough capacity and feels safe doing something different, insight and effort alone will only get you so far. But insight isn't forgotten here. Your thoughts, your patterns, your story, your understanding of yourself - all of it matters and all of it is part of the work.

It's not mind over body. And it's not body instead of mind.

    This is insight and embodiment.

    Both. Integrated. Working together.

This brings together my particular combination of training, experience and skill that I've spent two decades building.

And it's important to say,  it is not a failure on your part that other things haven't fully worked. It's just where the work hasn't reached yet. 🤍

  • This program is designed to work inside your real life, not separate from it. It's paced, steady, and structured so you're building capacity in a way that works with you and your nervous system, not overhauling everything at once (which can lead to too much too soon and floor your nervous system.)

And in saying this, in terms of commitment - it is worth sitting with honestly to make sure you're able to show up consistently, even imperfectly, over six months.

Because if you can, I promise this will work for you. 🤍

  • This isn’t a program that punishes you for being human. The structure is intentionally paced so there’s room to breathe.

If life happens, and it will, the community space, recordings, and resources are there to support you.

    You won’t be left behind.

  • This program is therapeutic in nature and is led by a qualified therapist and somatic practitioner. It's not a replacement for individual clinical therapy if that's what you need, but you don't need to have worked with a therapist before, or be doing so currently, to join.

And if you are working with a therapist right now, this can sit alongside that beautifully.

Nervous System First works from a holistic, body-first foundation and weaves together somatic practice, attachment theory, parts work, nervous system regulation, behaviour change and positive psychology. Rather than duplicating what therapy offers, it tends to deepen and support it.

What matters most is that something in you is ready.

And it's worth knowing, that as part of the founding round, you'll have three private 1:1 sessions with Jo directly.

So the deeper, personal support is built in. 🤍

  • Yes, and there are a couple of ways we can do this.

The founding round of Nervous System First includes three private 1:1 sessions with me, the beginning, midpoint and completion of the program.

So even within the group container, you have direct, personal support and access to me built in. After the founding round, 1:1 sessions will be available as an add-on.

If you're looking for something outside of the program entirely, I offer a fully personalised, one-to-one container where it's just the two of us working directly together, for those who want a deeper level of individual support.

    Places are very limited.

→ Learn more about Private 1:1 with Jo

  • For some, this might feel like a stretch, and that's real. I understand and I respect that.

And it's worth gently naming, for many people, the conversation around money and investing in themselves is where the nervous system shows up first. Questions of self-worth, of safety in expansion, of whether they're allowed to take up this much space, put themselves first - these are real and they make complete sense.

What I'd invite you to sit with is this, how much is staying in the same place actually costing you? Not just financially, but in energy, in relationships, in the life that keeps getting put on hold.

The founding round pricing exists because I want this work to be as accessible as possible while it's new.

And if the investment feels like a genuine barrier, please reach out. I'm always happy to have an honest, compassionate conversation about what's possible, and to find an approach that feels most supportive for you. 🤍

  • Absolutely. Nervous System First is delivered entirely online and is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.

All care is taken to schedule calls at times that work across multiple timezones — and all sessions are recorded so you can access them in your own time if you can't always join live.

Wherever you are in the world you're welcome here. 🤍
